20 photographer-selected finished high-resolution photographs. You’re welcome in a few frames.
Prints are optional and purchased separately.
You know the look. The head tilt when you say a word they like. The way they lean their whole weight into your leg. The face they make when the leash comes off the hook. You see it every day, and somehow every photo on your phone is a blur, a nose, or the back of their head.
That is what a pet session is for. I'm Cam, a Frederick photographer, and a lot of my job is lying in the grass waiting for a dog to forget I'm there. Nobody gets drilled on commands or pushed into a pose. We let your animal be exactly who they are, and I catch it.
How a pet session works
We pick the place together
Wherever your animal is most themselves. That might be the trail they pull you down every morning, the open grass at Baker Park, the brick and water along Carroll Creek, a quiet spot out toward Gambrill, or simply your own back yard or living room floor. Nervous pets usually do best somewhere familiar, so home is a great answer. Read more about choosing a setting for your pet.
It runs on their clock
About 30 minutes, with breaks for sniffing, water, and the occasional squirrel emergency. If they need a minute, they get a minute. Some of my favorite frames ever happened because a dog refused to behave.
Gray muzzles and shy dogs, too
Senior dogs and skittish ones get a slower plan and as much time as they need. A gray-muzzled dog who has been with you for twelve years deserves a portrait that looks like them, not a rushed one.
Bring the family, too
Your pet is family, so they belong in the family photos. If you want people and pets together, The Session covers up to six people or pets in about an hour. It is the easiest way to get the photo of everyone, the photo of just the kids with your pet, and the photo of your pet alone, all in one go.

Book a SessionPet session questions
What if my pet won’t sit still or feels nervous?
Pets and play go well together. I find that some of my best photographs come from getting out there and just having a great time. What does your pet enjoy doing, and are there particular treats they like? We can plan around that, with time for breaks.
If your pet feels nervous, tell me what helps them feel comfortable. A familiar place may be a good fit.
Where do you photograph pets in Frederick?
Wherever your animal is most comfortable. Popular choices are local parks like Baker Park, the walk along Carroll Creek, a favorite trail, or your own yard or home. We pick the spot together when we plan the session.
Can my family be in the pet photos?
Absolutely. You’re welcome in a few photographs during a Pet Session. If you’re picturing a fuller family session, The Session allows about an hour for up to six people or pets. Is there anything in particular you’d love us to capture?
How much does a pet photo session cost?
The regular Pet Session is $325 for about 30 minutes, one location and 20 photographer-selected finished high-resolution photographs. Prints are optional and purchased separately. Family sessions with pets start at $395, and The Signature starts at $695.
Do you photograph cats and other animals?
Yes. Cats, horses, and the ones who don't fit a category are all welcome. Cats usually do best at home, so we'd plan an indoor session around their favorite spots.
Let's get your pet on the wall.
Tell me who they are, what they love, and where they're happiest. I'll take it from there. Look like yourself. Your pet already does.
